Nicholas Purchase

Nicholas is a qualified social worker, mental health professional and independent consultant in mental health and social care. He has over 35 years experience as a practitioner, and as a senior manager in the NHS, Social Services, Criminal justice Agencies, and with private and not for profit sector organisations.

He also has extensive, management and teaching experience of mental health services, including the strategic development, and provision of specialist services, such as forensic mental health, both in the UK and working with other countries to develop and improve service provision in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies.

Nicholas works within a human rights perspective, in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including people who use services, with local communities, and provider organisations.

Ensuring services are therapeutically effective, culturally appropriate, financially and practically sustainable, with a focus on diversity, equality and civil liberties.
