ARKRS’s service supports all our male service users aged 18-65 with accommodation on release from prison for up to 2 years. We prepare them for independence, build strong relationships and help them improve their physical and mental health.

We support our service users with accommodation on release from prison for up to 2 years.
To prepare them for independence, build strong relationships and improve physical and mental health. They are needed because accommodation is the key to stability for a future of independent living.
Upon release from prison, we carry out comprehensive risk assessment of the individual. This will enable us to look at appropriate placement and support between us and the individual and help to determine the person’s support plan. We then ensure that they are set up correctly with crucial documents and access to services – ID, passport, benefit entitlements (universal credit etc.) – then we make sure they’ll settled in the accommodation and have all the requirements. We work with charities at this stage to make sure all requirements are met.
Overwhelmingly positive. Typically, within 2 years and providing all those support mechanisms the person is able to make progress by addressing the offending behaviour, they should be ready to live independently. Generally, 8 out of 10 people live independently after working with ARKRS. For those who get recalled, we don’t see that as a negative, we believe they aren’t ready for the community and have not worked through all of the support mechanisms sufficiently, we continue to support and keep in touch with these service users. No ‘wrong door’ approach. Our door is always open. They are still in communication with their dedicated members of staff who can help them (if needed) to be re-referred to us.
