Visit from Rt Hon. David Lammy

In May, we were honoured to host the Rt Hon. David Lammy at the Ark offices for an important conversation about the future of Ark Resettlement Services and the vital work we do in supporting people as they rebuild their lives after prison.

As a long-standing advocate for justice reform and social equity, Mr. Lammy shared his insights on the challenges facing resettlement organisations today and the opportunities to build more effective pathways for rehabilitation and reintegration. The meeting created space for an open and constructive dialogue about how Ark can continue to grow its impact, strengthen its services, and amplify the voices of those we serve.

During the discussion, we reflected on the core values that drive Ark’s mission: dignity, opportunity, and second chances. We explored the barriers that so many people face upon release from prison – from housing and employment to mental health and community support – and how charities like Ark can work alongside policymakers, employers, and local communities to create lasting change.

Mr. Lammy’s encouragement and support reaffirmed the importance of our work and the role of grassroots organisations in shaping a fairer, more inclusive society. His visit was not only a recognition of Ark’s ongoing commitment, but also an inspiring reminder of the collective effort required to ensure that no one is defined solely by their past.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our vision for the future and to strengthen relationships with those who are committed to reform and social justice. This meeting marked another important step in our journey, and we look forward to building on the momentum to continue expanding opportunities for the people we serve.
